Cytotec and Mifepristone kit Philippines
Mifepristone and misoprostol are two oral medicines (tablets) that can be taken in sequence up to 63 days after your last period as an alternative to surgical termination of a pregnancy. Mifepristone (also called RU486) has a composite pack containing both mifepristone and misoprostol is available in some parts of the Philippines.
Mifepristone Kit
A medication commonly used in combination with Misoprostol to carry out medical abortion. It causes blockage of progesterone hormone, a potent hormone needed for normal development of pregnancy. This in turn causes uterine lining degeneration, softening and dilation of the cervix, and the uterus becomes more receptive to the effects of Misoprostol.
Mifepristone also known as RU-486 is a synthetically produced antiprogesterone agent which blocks the progesterone hormone during the early stage of pregnancy. Progesterone is a naturally derived hormone which prepares the lining of the uterus for the implantation of a fertilized egg and helps in maintaining this pregnancy. Without progesterone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, softens and bleeding occurs and so the fertilized egg could not implant in the uterus. Mifepristone also makes the cervix and uterus more sensitive to the effects of Misoprostol. The intake of Mifepristone is usually followed by Misoprostol.
Use Mifepristone as directed by your doctor! Termination of intrauterine pregnancy through 70 days gestation, in a regimen with misoprostol.
Misoprostol (Cytotec) Kit
Most popularly known by its brand name, Cytotec, is commonly used to treat and prevent stomach ulcers, induce labor, cause abortion and treat postpartum hemorrhage. For abortions, it is commonly used in combination with Mifepristone yielding success rates of about 95-98% of medical abortions.
Misoprostol is a synthetically derived prostaglandin E1 analog which is originally used to treat gastric ulcers but is now widely used for the termination of unintended pregnancies. It causes uterine contractions and opening of the cervix, therefore, aids in the expulsion of the products of conception inside the uterus.
Misoprostol (Cytotec) is used for reducing the risk of stomach ulcers in certain patients who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Cytotec is a prostaglandin. It works by reducing the amount of acid released by the stomach and protecting the stomach lining, which helps to reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.
